Burials
We have a range of cemeteries across Nottingham where a variety of grave types are available to meet your personal and religious needs.
As a guide, here is a brief description of these different types:
Lawn Graves
These are graves which allow a headstone memorial only.
Available at Southern & Highwood Cemeteries.
Traditional Graves
These are graves which allow for a full kerb surround in natural stone, as well as a headstone. Cover slabs are also permitted.
Available at Southern, Northern & Highwood Cemeteries.
Concrete Vaults
These are underground concrete vaults which are for one burial only and as these are Traditional Graves, they allow for a full kerb set.
Available within the Muslim Section at Highwood Cemetery.
Family Burial Chambers
These are also vaults but they are for two full burials as well as up to 15 sets of cremated remains. They come with a black granite memorial plaque which can have an inscription engraved as well as three smaller plaques for any cremated remains buried.
Available at Southern Cemetery.
Please note, with exception of the Family Burial Chambers at Southern Cemetery, graves can only be purchased as part of the funeral arrangement for immediate burial.
Please be aware that all memorials erected within the Cemeteries needs to be done by an approved Stone Mason. More information can be found by clicking here:

Ashes Burials
The final resting place of cremated remains is an extremely important and personal decision to make and within our Cemeteries we have a range of options available for you to consider.
Ashes Only Graves
These Lawn Graves are the same size as a full grave and are permitted a headstone but are exclusively for 8 sets of cremated remains.
Available at Southern, Northern & Highwood Cemeteries.
Underground Niches
These are small vaulted plots which can accommodate two sets of ashes and have an inscribed black granite plaque and a small vase for flowers.
Available at Southern & Northern Cemeteries.
Sanctum
These are an above ground memorial into which two sets of cremated remains may be placed. A large black granite black is included for an inscription of your choice.
